Hardy Hensley

July 21, 1927 — August 25, 2010

Hardy Hensley, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native of Greene County who lived his adult life in Washington County. He was a son of the late Frank and Lydia Hensley. Mr. Hensley worked at Cut-Rate Supermarket, Giant Food, and retired from Food Lion. He enjoyed going fishing with his best friend Dwight Doty. He also liked gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Albert Hensley; four sisters, Grace Ayres, Martha Smith, and two sisters who died in infancy. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Hensley, of the home; two brothers, Ross Hensley, and his wife Viola, of Johnson City, and Hubert Hensley, Johnson City; two sisters, Jo Fortner, and her husband George, Greeneville, and Thelma Hurley, and her husband Ivan, Greeneville; sister-in-law, Gail Ward, and her husband Ed, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Hardy Hensley will be conducted 2:30 PM Sunday from the Morris-Baker Chapel. Pastor Tony Trott will officiate. Pallbearers will be Benji and Jerry Bowman and Mike, Sam, Danny, and Perry Ward. Honorary Pallbearer will be Edward Ward. Following the funeral service, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for committal services. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM Sunday.
