Harold Edward Purdy

Harold 'Harry'? Edward Purdy, 89, of Jonesborough passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a native of Carbondale, PA. and the son of the late Edward Anthony and Ida Greenfield Purdy. Harold retired after 31 years of service from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the St. Marys Catholic C hurch. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. Harold was a veteran of the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: wife, Georgia Alberta 'Bert'? Purdy; son, Larry Purdy; four brothers, Edward, Clarence, Don and Paul Purdy; and two sisters, Rose Purdy and Mary Piorkowski. Survivors include: two daughters, Jane and husband Wayne Rupert of Limestone, TN. and Patti and Jerry Hodges of Jonesborough, TN.; six grandchildren, Jeff Purdy of Dumfries, VA., Robyn Laver of Dumfries, VA., Eric Rupert of Limestone, TN., Lori Rupert of Limestone, TN., Rachael Hodges of Jonesborough, TN., and Nikki Hodges of Blountville, TN.; eight great-grandchildren, Evan, Seth and Jacob Purdy of VA., Jenna Laver of VA., Jesse and Dylan Stewart of Limestone, TN., Cody and Caleb Rupert of Limestone, TN.; brother-in-law, Vince Piorkowski of Jermyn, PA.; two sister-in-laws, Ann Walls of Johnson City, TN. and Mary Holmes of Maryville, TN.; several nieces and nephews; special hunting buddies, Buck Ayers, Bill Ferguson, Ray Hall and Wade Campbell. The family would like to express their gratitude to Harolds caregivers Pat Rhew and Roger Murphy for their loving and dedicated service and to the ICU staff of the Johnson City Medical Centers 2600 wing.
