Harold Fred Willingham, Sr.

Mr. Harold Fred Willingham, Sr., age 88, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Willingham was a native of Andover, Virginia. He was the son of the late Fred Willingham and Edith Hatcher Willingham. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Willingham; two sisters, Shirley Smith and Elva Culpepper. Mr. Willingham was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII where he served on the U.S.S Midway and in the North African Campaign. He retired from VA Mountain Home after twenty-one years of service. He was a member of Princeton Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Superintendent and also served as Mens Bible Teacher. Survivors include: his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Mable Willingham of the home; two sons, Fred Willingham & wife Peggy and Ralph Willingham & wife Cheryl; two brothers, Edward Willingham and Jerald Willingham; one sister-in-law, Judy Willingham; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Harold Fred Willingham, Sr. will be conducted at 8 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. J. Andrew White and Dr. Calvin Jett will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Monday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM Monday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Princeton Presbyterian Church, 2703 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, Tn. 37601.
