Harold Gillespie Jenkins, 84, of Johnson City passed away after a brief illness July 26, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a native of Washington County and the son of the late Searle G. Jenkins and Georgia Carder Jenkins. Harold retired from the V.A. Hospital after 30 years of service as a nursing assistant. He was of Pinecroft Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: first wife, Ruby Brown Jenkins; second wife, Pansy Tipton Jenkins; two sons; brother, Gary Jenkins; and sister, Helen Wray. Survivors include: beloved wife of 18 years, Mary E. Jenkins; three daughters, Diana Mashburn and husband John of Telford, TN., Debbie Donaldson and husband Jim of Jonesborough, TN. and Lisa Chapman and husband Gene of Piney Flats, TN.; three step-sons, William Carder and wife Wanda of Knoxville, TN., Kenneth Carder and wife Mary of Stokesdale, N.C. and Richard Carder of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, John Jr., Bridgit, Trey, Rick, Michele, Brian, Steven, Kevin, Patrick and Hayley; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Jenkins of England; two sisters, Norma Piercy of N.C. and Sue West N.C.; and host of nieces and nephews. Special 'Thank You'? to the nursing staff of 5500 of the MSHA, nurses of Fresenius Dialysis of Johnson City and Greensboro and Dr. Craig Mathune.
