Dr. Harold W. Burnette, 84, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, in the Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Dr. Burnette was a native of Lynchburg, VA. He was a son of the late Herbert Marion Burnette, Sr. and Mary Clay Burnette Taylor. Dr. Burnette was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He graduated from E.C. Glass High School, Lynchburg College, and Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Burnette served in the Department of Surgery and Urology at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, and retired from the VA Medical Center, Beckley, WV. He was also engaged in the private practice of urology in Johnson City, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Clements Burnette; two sons, Reginald Lewis Burnette and Richard Lee Burnette; and one daughter, Renee Louise Burnette. Survivors include: four children, Ronald Lester Burnette and his wife Rebecca Kane Burnette, Rebecca Leigh Burnette Martinez and her husband Jorge, Robin Lynn Burnette and his wife Jenny Summers Burnette, and Rochelle Lara Burnette; and seven grandchildren, Brandon W. Burnette, Sydney Burnette, Christian Martinez, Johnathon Martinez, Olivia Martinez, Isabelle Burnette, and Elisabeth Burnette. Services will be at a later date.
