Harry Estes Burdick

Harry Estes Burdick, 89 of Johnson City, a loving and devoted husband and father, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at his home.Mr. Burdick was a Johnson City native and a son of the late Edward and Annie Mae Peebles Burdick. Mr. Burdick was also preceded in death by his wife of over 42 years, Blanche Eugina Lusk Burdick, by 1 brother, William E. Burdick and 1 sister, Edna Burdick.He was a member of Muncey Memorial United Methodist Church where he was the president of the Fellowship Adult Sunday School Class and was on the committee to visit homebound members and was on the Board of Trustees at Munsey.Mr. Burdick had retired from the Physical Division as an Accountant at the V. A. M. C. Hospital in 1986. He had worked for Metropolitan Life, R. L. Harris and Baylor and Backus as an Accountant. In his earlier years Mr. Burdick had worked at the Atomic Steam Plant in Oak Ridge.Mr. Burdick had served in the Army Air Corp during WW II. He was a 60 year American Legion member and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also an honorary citizen of Boys Town. Survivors include; two daughters, Karen Lusk Burdick Hemann of Johnson City and Judith Diane Burdick Carey and her husband Michael of Aledo, TX; two grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Hemann; one sister, Pat Ruble of Johnson City; a sister in law and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Wednesday from Monte Vista Memorial Park. There will be no formal visitation with the family present but friends may come by to sign the register book and pay their respects anytime after 4:00 pm Tuesday.
