Harry Monroe Church

Harry M. Church, age 84, of 2405 Circleview Drive, Johnson City, Tennessee, died Friday, May 11, 2007 at his residence. The son of the late Cora Mabel Colyer Church and the late Samuel Elcaney Church, Mr. Church was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. Mr. Church owned and operated Church Brothers Company, Inc., Sand and Gravel. Mr. Church was an Air Force veteran, having served in North Africa and Italy during World War II. He was a member of Southwestern Baptist Church. Mr. Church was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and especially enjoyed working with the fraternity and ETSU during homecoming festivities. Mr. Church was listed in Whos Who Among American Business Men. In addition to his parents, Mr. Church was preceded in death by two infant sisters; two sisters, Ruth Lewis and Glenna Street and two brothers, Elmer Church and Samuel Eugene Church. He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Church; a daughter, Karen Veigel and her husband Tom of Columbus, Ohio; three sons, Harry 'Skip'? Church and his wife Debbie, Wayne K. Church and his wife Patricia, Dennis N. Church and his wife Darlene; one sister, Clara Jenkins, all of Johnson City; one brother, George Church and his wife Louise of Jonesborough; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Church, Haley Church, Jennifer Griffith, Kelly Griffith, Sierra Church, Robert Jordan and Summer Church and one great grandson, Logan Trivette and one great granddaughter, Cassidy Church and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Harry M. Church will be held Monday, May 14th at 8:00 PM in Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Rev. Lawrence Pack will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:15 AM to go in procession to Washington County Memory Gardens for graveside services and burial at 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be David Baines, Melvin Baines, Robert Jordan, Brian Byrd, Matthew Baines and Gary Church. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 3382.
