Hartsell Harold Edwards, age 90 of Powell formerly of The Tri-Cities passed away on April 11, 2025 at Morning Pointe of Powell. He was born on May 14, 1934 to the late T. Garrett and Byrdie Edwards in Greeneville, Tennessee.
He started his career with Standard Coffee Service as a door to door salesman, and ended his 47 year tenure as Vice President of Sales. His work took his family all over the southeast.
If asked, he had a lifetime of wisdom to share, often in the form of scripture or a witticism. He was patient and quiet, but he loved a good story or a joke, and he had a dry sense of humor.
Hartsell was a simple man who preferred to wear overalls. A devoted, humble, and faithful servant of Christ, he was most recently a member of Woodlawn Christian Church in Knoxville. He loved and served people everywhere he went, especially his bride of 71 years, Edith Edwards.
Hartsell will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters and six brothers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 71 years, Edith Edwards, son, Vincent (Lili) Edwards, daughters, L'Jon Papillon, and Marcia (Chet) Barton; grandchildren, Damon (Tania) Edwards, Amye (Harrison) Dean, Ben Barton, Adrienne Barton, Garrett Barton, James Edwards, and Helen Edwards; great-grandchildren, Kevin Vallejos, Brycen and Brynn Edwards, Gelena Rayo, and Evelyn Barton. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Megan with U.T. Hospice, the nurses of the 8th floor at Fort Sanders, and the nurses and staff at Morning Pointe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made "In memory of Hartsell Edwards" to the the general fund at Woodlawn Christian Church, https://mywoodlawn.churchcenter.com/giving
