Hazel Eileen Whaley, 89, Johnson City, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City. Mrs. Whaley was a native and life long resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late John and Minnie Lichtenstein Blevins. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Whaley was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by: her husband, James Matthew Whaley, in 1984; sons, Richard, Cecil, and James Donald Whaley; daughter, Kathy Joan Whaley; brother, Bill Blevins; sister, Ruby Sims; grandson, Roger Whaley; and granddaughter, Amanda Whaley. Survivors include: five sons, Dennis Whaley, and his wife Stephanie, of Johnson City, Steven Whaley, and his wife Sue, of Johnson City, Stanley Whaley, and his wife Vicki, of Butler, Jerry Whaley, and his wife Mildred, of Sevierville, Billy Ray Whaley, and his wife Mary, of Greeneville; two daughters, Wilma J. Reed, of Johnson City, and Judy Forakers, and her husband Jim, of Johnson City; two sisters, Geraldine Barrett, of Johnson City, and Jean Jackson, of Florida; numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Eileen Whaley will be held on Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013 at 8:00PM in the Morris Baker Funeral Home North Chapel with Pastor Charlie Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013 in the Morris Baker Funeral Home North Chapel or any other times at 2003 E. Fairview Avenue, Johnson City and 24 Bedding Place, Johnson City. Committal services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 10:00AM in the Fairview Cemetery, Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:00AM Wednesday morning for those attending the committal service.
