Hazel Ellen Neal

Hazel C. Neal, 93, of 515 Central Street, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006 at North Side Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Matthew S. and Mary Ann 'Annie' Carroll. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William P. Neal in 1987 and by two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Neal was a native of Kingsport but had lived in Johnson City all of her life. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Piney Flats where she had been very active in many church organizations. Survivors include six daughters, Barbara Staten of Johnson City, Martha Neal Hall of Jonesborough, Judith W. Bennett and her husband, Jim of Huntersville, NC, Terry J. Powell and her husband, Richard, Saundra L. Owens and her husband Mike, and Rita G. Umbarger and her husband Steve all of Johnson City; two sons, William Jack Neal and his wife, Ann and Johnny P. Neal and his wife, Judy all of Piney Flats; 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Tuesday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. James Cambron and Rev. Woodrow Morrell will officiate. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday from the Monte Vista Burial Park. Active pallbearers will be the following Grandsons, David Staten, Allen Neal, Hugh Hall, III, Jimmy Bennett, Rick Powell, Todd Owens and Aaron Umbarger. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren and family and friends. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Wednesday and proceed to the cemetery.
