Hazel Forbes Foster, 95, of Johnson City, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Appalachian Christian Village. She was a native of Roan Mountain, daughter of the late William A. and Etta Boone Forbes. Hazel was a homemaker and member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband R. Y. Foster in 1987; three brothers Ernest, Paul and Lonnie 'Doc'? Forbes; three sisters Eliza Jenkins, Emma and Marteen Forbes; a son Jimmy D. Foster. Survivors include: a son Jerry W. Foster and his wife Shirley of Johnson City; a sister Gladys Snyder of Johnson City; a daughter-in-law Lois Foster of Johnson City; a granddaughter Gay Proffitt and her husband Mark of Piney Flats; two grandsons and their wives Tim W. and Kristy Foster and Mark T. and Sharon Foster all of Johnson City; seven great grandchildren Matthew Proffitt of Piney Flats, Abby, Molly, Allie, Paige, Chloe and Lucas Foster all of Johnson City; a special niece Evelyn Crowe of Johnson City; several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Dr. Jim Richter. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Special music will be provided by: Pauline and Conley Dockery, Sharon Foster and Sharon Stansberry. A committal service will be conducted following the funeral service in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Tim and Mark Foster, Danny, Marshall and Jack Forbes, Matthew and Mark Proffitt and Jeff Crowe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or St. Jude Childrens Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
