Hazel Lucille Bennett, age 93, of Johnson City, Tennessee, died Monday, September 16, 2019, at home surrounded by her family.
Hazel was born November 4, 1925 in Washington County, to William Casey and Lucy VanHoy Casey.
She was a long-time member of River of Life Baptist Church in Piney Flats.
Hazel loved to go camping, especially in Roan Mountain, and she enjoyed gatherings with her family.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years in 1989, Cecil Bennett; and two sons, Ronnie Bennett and Randy Bennett.
She is survived by her son, Tony (and wife, Evelyn) Bennett; daughters, Donna Wilson and Teresa (and husband, Jr) Payne; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Bennett and Debbie Bennett; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends at River of Life Baptist Church.
Hazel’s family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2019, at River of Life Baptist Church. A funeral will immediately follow at the church, beginning at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2019, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Please meet at Morris-Baker Funeral Home no later than 9:45 a.m. to process to the cemetery.
Pallbearers include: Jeremy Wilson, Christian Fridley, Keith Cope, Matt Hughes, David Clayman, Scott Bennett, and Jeff Bennett. Honorary pallbearers include: Jr Payne and Tony Fridley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to River of Life Baptist Church (823 N Austin Springs Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686).
