Helen VanHoy McKinney, 88, of Johnson City, went home to Gods Kingdom at the Johnson City Medical Center on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Mrs. McKinney was a longtime member of the Austin Springs United Methodist Church. She was active in the church and taught Sunday School for many years. Helen was a member of the Adult Senior Sunday School class and loved every member. She attended until too ill to do so. Mrs. McKinney was a beautician and worked out of her home at Helens Beauty Shop until she retired. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry McKinney and Robert O. Feathers in (1953) , her mother and father, Addie Casey VanHoy and Ray E. VanHoy, Sr., brothers, Ray E. Jr. and Howard VanHoy and sisters, Alma VanOver and Stella King. Survivors include: her daughter, Deborah K. Feathers of Dublin, GA; sister-in-law, Helen VanHoy of Gray; nephews, James Scott VanHoy of Gray, Ronnie and Larry VanHoy of Watauga; a niece, Patricia Little of Franklin. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the North Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Donnie Humphrey and music to be provided by her cousins, Peggy Harvey Street and Tommy Joe Andrews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm. A committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Eddie VanHoy and Darryl Cretsinger of Riverview Drive, Jack Ollis of Jonesborough, Dan Kane of Hawthorne Church Road, and Mark and Mason Light of Piney Flats. Honorary pallbearers will be: Members of the Austin Springs United Methodist Church.
