Helen Morley

June 2, 1922 — April 4, 2008

Helen Blevins Morley passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Shady Valley, TN to Chester and Sue Mock Blevins. After graduating from Steed College she worked for Paty Lumber Company for forty years. Helen was very active with the Credit Women of Johnson City. She served as their president as well as State President. After retirement she worked with AARP serving as president and in District positions. She was a member of Muriel Coltrane Circle of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, C. Strauss Morley, one brother, Edsel Blevins and his wife, Louise, Live Oak, FL, two nephews, Perry Blevins of Jacksonville, FL; Gary Blevins, and his wife Jennifer, Lake City, FL, one niece, Karen Henderson and her husband, Terry, Lancaster, KY, sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jane Higgins and her husband, Jack, Jonesborough, Mrs. Trula Archer, Bulls Gap, Mrs. Vera Hale and her husband, Clayton, Jonesborough, Mrs. Bonnie Schenkl and her husband, Alfred, Florence, SC and one brother-in-law, Kay Morley and his wife, Nancy, Limestone. A funeral service for Mrs. Morley will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Garland Thayer and Reverend Tim Bracken will officiate. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Morley requested donations be made to First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 900 Spring Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
