Helen Ridenour Stinnette passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at Northside Hospital. Helen was born in Illinois, but was a long-time resident of Johnson City. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother. Her husband, Carl Ekins Stinnette, and her son, Carl Edwards Stinnette, preceded her in death. Before her health prevented her attendance, Helen was a dedicated member and Sunday school teacher at First Church of God in Johnson City. Throughout the loss of her husband and son and many years of sickness, her faith was strong, her devotion to prayer was firm, and her smile radiated a love for others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Albert Ridenour and Maude Couch Ridenour; a brother, Henry Ridenour; a sister, Dolros Stinnette Green. Helen is survived by a nephew, William E. Stinnette Jr., his wife, Phyllis, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, and several great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. Helen was blessed to have loving, kind caregivers, Tammy Rhoton and Brittney Fair, who had served her for seven years. During this time Helen came to be called Nanny by Tammys children. Services for Helen will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, in the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM followed by a celebration of Helens life and home going. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at 10 AM at Monta Vista Memorial Park. Friends are asked to meet the family at the funeral home at 9:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Helens church family will serve as pallbearers, special music will be provided by The Wings of Eagles, and Dan Stansberry will conduct her memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial gift to the building fund at Helens church. That address is First Church of God, 801 West Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604.
