Helen Van Huss Hensley, 85, 1501 Knob Creek Road, Johnson City, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Hensley was a native of Washington County who had lived all her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late B.F. Van Huss and Florence Vest Van Huss. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shelby Jean Van Huss and Gladys Taylor; two brothers, Frank Van Huss and William 'Bill'? Van Huss. She was retired from Inter Mountain Telephone Company. She was an active, caring, long-time member of East Unaka Christian Church where she attended regularly until her illness. Survivors include: her husband, Hubert C. Hensley; four sisters, Josephine Berry, of Johnson City, Ruth Kearney, of Springhill, Florida, Mary Katherine Morgan, of Columbus, Georgia and Peggy Shell, of Knoxville; two brothers, Wallace Van Huss, of Elizabethton and Wayne Van Huss, of Gray; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Helen Van Huss Hensley will be conducted at 8 PM Friday July 6, 2007 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel . Dr. Wayne Emery and Lamar Garrison will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Love, Bill Booker, Jack Dempsey, John Somich, Doug Long, David Holden and Daniel Spiltner. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral at 9:30 AM Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service.
