Henriette Georgia Brinks Dik, 92, of 1407 Ridgecrest Road, Johnson City died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Dik was a native of Holland, Michigan and came to Johnson City in 1959. She was a daughter of the late John Henry and Reke Brink Brinks. Mrs. Dik was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Rudolph P. Dik in 2003; her brothers, Ben Brinks, Burt Brinks, Herb Brinks, and twin brother Elmer Brinks; her sisters, Helene Dekker, Minnie Anker, Ruth Vogel and Stella Van Kley. Henriette and Rudy were active in the Senior Olympic games through Johnson City Senior Citizens, taking home many awards for swimming and other events. She was also a member of the Monday Club. Mrs. Dik worked many years for Dr. F. Heisse Johnson, Christian Higher Education, Methodist Church, Holston Conference. Henriette and Rudy opened their home to provide temporary lodging for many missionaries studying at HeliMission as well as others in need of temporary housing. Henriette worshipped her Lord and Savior at Central Baptist Church. She and Rudy sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Emmaus Community. She was actively involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship for most of her adult life. Henriette has always had a heart for children, teaching Good News Clubs and Sunday School for more then 65 years. She has had the privilege to lead many young people to Christ. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith with others. She was a kind and gentle soul, demonstrating by her life the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. She was a prayer warrior, lifting up the needs of many people to God. Survivors include: her four children, Gwen and husband John Maden, Paula Pickle, Jim and wife Donna Dik, and Mark Dik all of Johnson City; her grandchildren, Angel Maden, John and wife Karen Maden III, Angela and her husband Brett Coxey, Jeremy and his wife Michelle Pickle, Serena Pickle, Selena and her husband Jim Holbrook, Melissa Dik, Trey and his wife Angie Williams, Todd and his wife Tammy Williams, Traci and her husband Ahmet Yavas, Jonathan and his wife Candy Foister and Andy Foister; her great grandchildren, Adam Maden, Alexandria Coxey, Dominic Pickle, Jonathan Pickle, Caitlynn Pickle, Evan Holbrook, Annabelle Dik, Megan Brannon, Chet Williams, Shelton Williams, Hudson Williams, Gideon Williams, Tabitha Williams, JeylinYavas, Emri Yavas, Brandy Foister, Brenley Haven Foister; one great great grandchild, Nash Brannon. The funeral service for Henriette Georgia Brinks Dik will be conducted at 7 PM Friday, November 20, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. R. Willard Warfield and Dr. Ron Murray will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5:30 to 7 PM prior to the service. The committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday, November 21, 2009 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery.
