Herman Carroll Miller

Herman C. Miller, 84, 165 Mountain View Drive, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Miller was a native of Washington County and had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a son of the late William Dean and Clara Way Miller. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ann Sims Miller and two brothers. He was a former employee of several area automobile dealerships, the most recent being Doe River Auto Sales in Elizabethton. Mr. Miller was a WWII US Army veteran, serving with the Supply Detachment Sec. 1 1479 Service Command Unit. Mr. Miller was a Purple Heart Recipient. He attended Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Miller leaves one son, Jerry Miller and his wife Teresa, Johnson City, three daughters, Carol Ann Causey and her husband, James, Jonesborough, Sharon Estep and her husband Roger, Johnson City and Kim Julian, Roan Mountain; one sister, Ella Sue Huff, Johnson City; eight grandchildren, Nicki Biddix, Christa Statzer, Wayne Miller, Eric Betts, Amber Betts, Joshua Julian, Jared Julian and Jonah Julian; four great grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Miller, Autumn Miller, Erika Betts and Hannah Statzer and several nephews. The family of Mr. Miller will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm Wednesday, October 21, 2009 until an 8:00 pm service time. The funeral service will be held in the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Sherrill Nave officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wayne Miller, Eric Betts, Adam Stitt, Keith Biddix, Dwight Harrell and Kelly Crane. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeter Watts and Richard Hyder. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.(423)282-1521 is serving the family.
