Mr. Herman Lee King, age 86, of Johnson City, passed away, Friday, September 2, 2011 at his residence. Mr. King was a native of Hawkins County who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Haynes L. King and Blanche Gladson King. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Stella King; one brother, Haynes G. King; one sister, Helen Byrd. Mr. King retired from North American Rayon after thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of Tacoma Church of God. Mr. King was a former board member of the Johnson City Cardinals. He was an avid pool player at the Johnson City Senior Center. Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Little and her husband Alan of Franklin, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Andrea Harvey and her husband Greg; two great grandchildren who were the light of his life Myles Harvey and Foster Harvey; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Herman Lee King will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Reggie Rumberg and Rebecca Rumberg will officiate. Mr. Jerry Barnett will provide music. The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Monday, September 5, 2011 at Morris-Baker and again on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. The family would like to express a special thank you to his niece Winnie Byrd and her husband Bill. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mountain States Hospice, 101 Med Tech Parkway, Johnson City, Tn. 376004.
