Herselie Suzanne Copper

December 11, 1941 — January 28, 2010

H. Suzanne Cooper, 68, of Lakebridge Health Care Center died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Ms. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, W.L. and Mildred Cooper. She was a native of Mississippi but had moved to Johnson City at an early age when her parents opened Cooper Office Supply. She was a 1959 graduate of East Tennessee College Training School and a 1965 graduate of East Tennessee State University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Phi Sorority and the Patchwork Players. Ms. Cooper performed with the Johnson City Community Theatre, earning the Ben Everette Award, and the Jonesborough Repetory Theatre where she was best known for her role as Mammy Yokum in the musical 'Lil Abner'?. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and had previously attended Munsey Memorial Methodist Church where she was a member of the Chancel Choir and a founding member of the Singles Sunday School Class. In addition to Cooper Office Supply, Ms Cooper worked for the Hammond Organ Company, Sears Telecatalog, and the U. S. Census Bureau. She is survived by many friends who loved her for her wit, her charm, her joy in living and her sparkling personality. A Memorial Service for H. Suzanne Cooper will be conducted at 3 PM Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Johns Episcopal Church.
