Hester A. White, 90, formerly of 302 Greenway Drive, Johnson City, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the Lakebridge Health Care Center. She was a native of Washington County, daughter of the late Shep and Fannie Gobble Mitchell, and had lived all her life in the area. She was a retired baker in the cafeteria for the Science Hill High School and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Walter T. White; three sons; James, Jimmy and Walter White, Jr.; and two brothers, Shep (Junior) and Chalmer Mitchell and a sister, Madeline Mitchell. Survivors include: four daughters, Barbara (& Larry) Harkleroad, Kingsport, Delores (& Leonard) Smith, Telford, Carolyn (& Opie) Cunningham, Jonesborough and Sharon (& Bobby) Shipley of Telford; two sisters, Lena Black and Helen Johnson both of Johnson City; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two special friends, Edna Garland and Mrs. Ben Johnson; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, October 3, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. James Chatman and Pastor Jerry Cornett. Special music will be provided by Sammy Brackins and Edna Waycaster. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 10:45 a.m. Active pallbearers: Jeff Black, Bryan Black, Adam Black, Warren Cunningham, Jon Robbins and Matt Lamons; honorary pallbearers: Gary Mitchell, Kenneth Lamons and Timmy White.
