Howard Latture Jones

Howard L. Jones, 88, of 2957 DeVault Bridge Road in Piney Flats, died Friday, August 31, 2007 in the Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport. He was a Piney Flats native, and a son of the late G. W. and Lelia Patton Smith Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church where he had served as an elder. He had also served as an elder in Morrison City Christian Church, Buffalo Christian Church and Oakwood Forest Christian Church. He had retired from the Kingsport Press. Survivors include; his wife of 59 years, Florence; Four children, Leslie Jones, Lelia Jones, Keith Jones and Brian Jones; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Dougherty and Naomi Hagy. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Sunday from the Poplar Ridge Christian Church. Roland Whittimore will officiate. Burial Services will be conducted at 11 :00 AM Monday from the Poplar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Poplar Ridge Christian Church, Building Fund, 206 Poplar Ridge Christian Church Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at the church.
