Howard Vestal Ledford

Howard V. Ledford, 93, 1005 Ridgecrest Road, Johnson City, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Ledford was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of the late Joseph Cephas and Martha Alberta Garst Ledford. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mae Greene Ledford; seven sisters and three brothers. Mr. Ledford was in the grocery business and a meat cutter. Mr. Ledford was of the Christian faith. Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Jane Ledford, of Johnson City; three sisters-in-laws, Johnsie Edmisten, of Johnson City, Mable Tart, of Nashville and Virginia Greene, of Boone, North Carolina; five nieces, Barbara Manning, Gladys Cole, Karen Butler, Winnie Tart and Joyce Ann Lowe; eleven nephews, John, Mack, Larry, Robert, and Ralph Edmisten, Alex Greene, Buck Welbourne, Albert Greene, Loye Greene, Kenneth Ledford and Larry Lowe; special caregiver and friend, Sherry Boyer; special neighbor, Walter Hall. The funeral service for Howard V. Ledford will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, April 18, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Hal T. Hutchison will officiate. The committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: John, Mack, Scott, Larry, Bobby, and Ralph Edmisten, Rob, Johnathan, Wade, and Luke Cole, Cody and Chase Boyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Cole and Dr. Jeff Farrow. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 2 PM Friday prior to the service.
