Hoyt Collins

Hoyt ?Monk' Collins, 86, died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Glen Meadows nursing home in Hamilton, OH. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He is the son of the late Elbert and Lillian Collins. Mr. Collins was a long time resident of Johnson City. He was born and raised in the Athens, Georgia area where he attended high school and college. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. Monk attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship and was an avid Bulldog fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins is preceded in death by: his brother, James; his sisters, Reba, Unis and Ebby; and his wife, Teresa. He is survived by: his daughters, Carol, Jenny and Suzy; and his son, Jeff; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 29, 2017 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 PM. Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 will be providing military honors.
