Mr. H.T. 'Tom'? Shearin, age 76, of Johnson City, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 26, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Shearin was a native of Aventon, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Herman and Mary Taylor Shearin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-eight years, Ann Vaughn Shearin; one brother-in-law, Charles Whitley and sister Mattie Shearin Whitley. Mr. Shearin was a US Army veteran and a graduate of Furman University. He was a long-time member and elder of Grace Fellowship Church. Mr. Shearin was a Pharmaceutical Representative until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Shearin was a former Toastmaster and served in Gideon International. Mr.Shearin leaves for his survivors a legacy of unwavering service to his Lord and Savior, his family and friends. He possessed a genuine compassion, love and servant spirit to all those that surrounded him. Survivors include two sons, Scott Shearin and wife Judy and John Shearin and wife Rachel; brother, Dan Shearin and wife Gerry, sister Harriet Shearin Griffin and husband Tommy, brother in law Joseph Johnsie Vaughn III, and grandchildren- Andrew Shearin, Taylor Shearin, Hunter Shearin, Hannah Shearin, Caley Ann Shearin, Jessee Shearin and Samantha Shearin. Our family gratefully acknowledges and considers extended family, Daddys compassionate and loving caregivers and includes: Kelli Culler, Diane Dugger, Karen Berry, Jessica Knight, Stacy Ingram and Doug Kalaras. The family of Mr. H.T. 'Tom'? Shearin will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Sunday March 2, 2014, at Grace Fellowship Church. The funeral service will follow at 4 PM. Pastor Tom Oyler will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Monday in the Ridge Spring Cemetery, in Ridge Spring South Carolina. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Benton, Dave Neil, Mike Hubbs, Gene Fryer, Darrel Cameron and Mike Hyder. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Fellowship Church, 2314 S. Greenwood Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604.
