Ida Hurley Woodward

Ida Hurley Woodward, 85, of 126 Lou Fox Drive, Telford, died on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Panther, West Virginia, daughter of the late Kelly and Octavia Deskins Blankenship. Ida resided in Johnson City since 1972, retired having been a cook for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and had worked for fourteen years as a clerk for United Oil. She was of the Baptist faith. Ida was a widow of Elmer Hurley who died in Germany during WWII. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by: two daughters, Brenda Eloise Hurley and Judy Shelton; three brothers, William R., Walter F. and Jack L. Blankenship; a sister, Louise Riffee. Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Brenda Hurley of Erwin; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Gaynell Taylor of Johnson City, Sandy and Ronnie Reece of Clarksville, Janie and Gary Peters of Telford, Cathy Woodward of Nashville and Patsy Woodward and David Scalf of Jonesborough; a sister, June Greene of Cinncinnatti, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Terry A. Taylor, Tambra Cole, Rhonda Reece, John Shelton, Joel David Shelton, Keith Kennedy, Jason Peters, Shannon Peters and Serena Scalf; seven great grandchildren, Brittney Taylor, Shasta Lynch, Brooke Shelton, Jasmine, Jaleessa and Jordan Kennedy, Devon Peters (Old Mamaw); several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris-Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Billy Deskins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, August 6, 2007 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 12:30 p.m. Active pallbearers will be: Joel David Shelton, Terry Taylor, Keith Kennedy, Jason Peters, Shaun Street, and Gary Peters.
