Iva Long, 71, of 1404 Knox Street, Johnson City died Thursday, August 11, 2005 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Long was a native of Ashe County, North Carolina and was raised in Washington County, Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Alvin and Carrie Tyree Stevens. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Long was a life member of the Lady?s Auxillary of the VFW Post # 2108. Mrs. Long is preceded in death by her parents , her stepfather, seven sisters, three brothers, one nephew, and two nieces. Survivors include: her loving husband of forty six years, Leonard Long of the home ; three daughters ; three brothers, Tommy Stevens and wife Lin of Jeffersonville, GA, Bill Stevens and wife Ruby of Johnson City, and Clyde Stevens of Johnson City; one sister Elizabeth; three granddaughters; one grandson; one great grandson and one great granddaughter; five nieces and four nephews. The funeral service for Iva Long will be conducted at 8:00 PM Sunday, August 14, 2005 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Bruce Davis, Pastor Richard Bawgus and Rev. Steven Harmmon will officiate. Music will be by Dale Johnston, Soloist. Interment will be held at 11:00 Monday at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:00 AM to travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Sunday. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society,508 Princeton Rd.
