J. C. Cross

J. C. Cross, 85 of Johnson City, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, son of the late Joseph William and Stella Mae Akins Cross. J. C. was a retired employee of Harris-Tarkett Manufacturing Company and also worked for J. E. Green Construction Company. J. C. was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U. S. Air Force. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his service there he joined the Tennessee National Guard. J. C. attended the Central Baptist Church. In addition to his parents a brother and three sisters preceded him in death. Survivors include: four sisters, Lucille Arthur of Johnson City, Linda Lee Mullins of Elizabethton, Shirley Isenberg and Karmicia Street both of Johnson City: several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 2:30 pm at the Mountain Home National Cemetery under the direction of VA Chaplain. The Boone Dam VFW will accord military honors. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home to leave in procession by 2:00 pm.
