Dr. J. Richard Kiser, 77, of Kingsport, died peacefully at the Mountain Home V.A. Medical Center on Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Johnson City, TN. Richard was born on June 25, 1937 in Jenkins, KY. He was raised in the Hurricane section of Wise County, VA. After graduating from JJ Kelly High School he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He graduated from UT Memphis in 1962 Doctor of Pharmacy. In addition to owning Norton Pharmacy his working career took him from CA to CO and back to the Southeastern US. He was recognized by his patients, employers, and coworkers as a skilled and compassionate professional. His business and personal relationship with John Marion of Pennington Gap, VA was an enduring blessing to Richard and family. He loved and served Jesus well with his particular talent of encouragement and kind generosity. He will always be remembered for his smile and contagious laughter. He is preceded in death by his first born daughter Elise Anne Kiser of Kingsport, TN, his parents John and June Nowlin Kiser of Titusville, FL, formerly of Wise, VA, and brother Jerry W. Kiser of Titusville, FL. Richard is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Patsy Knoll Kiser, of their home in Kingsport, TN; his children, Wendy Kiser Lawrence and Paul of Kingsport, TN, Joy Kiser of Athens, GA, Richard Douglas Kiser and Debbie of Fort Worth, TX, Richard Jason Kaiser and Kirstin of Cumming, GA, and Kathy Jo Kiser of Fort Worth, TX. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren who were the delight of his life: Heather and Tiffany Kiser of Fort Worth, TX, Blake, Luke, and Katherine Lawrence of Kingsport, TN, Miriam, Eliane, Olevander, and Johannes Kaiser of Cumming, GA. Richards surviving siblings are Dr. Roger Kiser of Erwin, TN, Larry Kiser of Ashland, KY, Mark Kiser of Wise, VA, Keith Kiser of St. Augustine, FL. The family would like to thank Mountain Home V.A. Medical Center and Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center for their considerate care. The family of Richard Kiser will receive friends from 4 pm until 5 pm Monday, January 19, 2015 in the Morris-Baker Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 5 pm Monday in the chapel. Rev. Nick Adams will officiate. The graveside service is scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. The Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 will accord military honors. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 9:30 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
