Mr. Jack B. Riley, age 82, of Johnson City passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 8, 1924 to the late Pete and Margaret Riley. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Riley in 1990. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elsie Yates Riley, one daughter and son-in-law, Jane Riley Bonsor and Bill of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Jack B. Riley, Jr., of Jonesborough and Danny Riley of Johnson City. Five grandchildren, Kim Bonsor Goodman and husband Jeff of Newnan, Georgia; Kristie Bonsor Sattler and husband, Jason of Atlanta, Georgia; Kevin Bonsor and wife, Lisa of Raleigh, North Carolina; Colby Riley and Andy Riley of Johnson City, Tennessee; one brother, Bob Riley and wife, Janelle of Johnson City, Tennessee; one niece, Martha Riley Frazier and husband Buford of Johnson City, Tennessee; one special nephew, Gene Landers of Johnson City, Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Ryan Goodman of Newnan, Georgia; brother-in-law, Robert Yates and wife Wanda and Earl Yates of Johnson City, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Yates O?Dell and Betty Yates Whaley of Johnson City, Tennessee and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack retired from Leon-Fernebach as office manager in 1992, after 50 years of service. Jack was a lifetime member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, where he served as usher and past president of the parish counsel. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1957 and has held many Third Degree offices in Council 4264, including Grand Knight for three terms. He became a Fourth Degree Knight in 1981 in Assembly 1840 and served as Purser for 15 years. He has been a member of the Fourth Degree Exemplification Team for a number of years. Jack and his brother Bob were loyal members of the Indian Motorcycle Club of America. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 Am Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Father Gerard Finucane will be the celebrant. Graveside service will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, January 29, 2007 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. Special thanks to Judith Jones of the Intensive Care Unit at Johnson City Medical Center and to Dr. Ray Lamb.
