Jack Charles Adams

Jack C. Adams, 93, of Johnson City passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the James H. Quillen V. A. Medical Center.He was a native of Washington County and a son of the late Tennessee Adams and Eva Johnson Adams. Jack had lived in Montgomery, AL for 10 years before returning to Johnson City. He was also preceded by two sisters, Bernice Adams and Dorothy Phipps and two brothers, Robert E. and Jimmy Adams. Jack was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in WW II. He was a member of the East Tennessee Ex-POW Chapter and the American Ex-Prisoners of War, Inc. Jack had participated in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He was a POW in Germany for 6 months. He was captured in the Battle of the Buldge. Survivors include his wife, Luella Clark Adams; one daughter, Elizabeth Sliger of Jonesborough; one step-son, David H. Whaley of Johnson City; three sisters, Ruth Loudy, Pat Moore and Sue Vines all of Johnson City; two grandsons, David C. and William Robert Whaley both of Johnson City; three great grandchildren, Tabatha Whaley of Knoxville, Jake Whaley of Jonesborough and Jessie Whaley of Johnson City;several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted from the Morris-Baker South Chapel on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Pastor Harold Jones will officiate. Burial services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11:00 am from the U. S. National Cemetery at Mt. Home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A procession will leave the funeral home for the cemetery at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Sunday.
