Jack Chatman, 78 of Jonesborough, formerly of 507 Magnolia Avenue in Johnson City, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008 at his residence.Jack was a son of the late Frank and Mary Kate Carder Chatman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Chatman, one sister, Mary Sue Edwards and one Son, David Chatman.Mr. Chatman attended the Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church.He was the former owner and operator of Jack Chatman Service Stations in Johnson City.Mr. Chatman was an avid Flea Market dealer.Survivors include; one daughter in law, Betty Chatman of Jonesborough; one grandson, David 'Punkin'? Chatman and his wife Missy of Jonesborough; one great grandson, David 'Trey'? Chatman III of Jonesborough; four brothers, Bill Chatman of Kingsport, J. R. Chatman of Johnson City, Tommie Chatman of Erwin and Roy Chatman of Greeneville,SC; three sisters; Catherine Dye of Gastonia, NC, Carolyn Clumberson of Chattoonoga, TN and Linda Toney of Jonesborough; a special daughter, Ann DePriest of Erwin and several nieces and nephews.A special thanks to all the boys who worked for Jack throughout the years.Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Tuesday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Otis Banks will officiate. Graveside services and Military Honors will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday from Mt. Home National Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for these services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Charlie Freeman, Gary DePriest, Anthony Jennings, Chief John Lowery, Mark Chatman and Jamie Hemphill. Honorary pallbearers will be Cindy Salts, Waitresses and friends from Maple Grove in Unicoi and Gentleman Jims in Jonesborough.
