Jack Neal

Jack Neal, 74, 652 Edgefield Road, Piney Flats, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 2, 2007 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Neal was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late William P. and Hazel Carroll Neal. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Knob Creek Church of the Brethren. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Powell Construction. Survivors include: his wife, Ann McInturff Neal of the home; one daughter and husband, Diane and Junior Utsman of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sons, Allen and Jan Neal of Jonesborough, Benny Neal of the home, and Jeff Neal of the home; four grandchildren, Donnie Neal and Dale Neal both of Jonesborough, Heather Utsman and Whitney Utsman, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; six sisters, Martha Hall of Jonesborough, Judy Bennett of Charlotte, NC, Barbara Staten, Terry Powell, Saundra Owens and Rita Umbarger all of Johnson City; one brother, Johnny Neal of Piney Flats; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Jack Neal will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, November 3, 2007 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Allen Campbell will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 1:45 PM Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ray McInturff, Carl Elliott, Junior Utsman, Mike Owens, Steve Umbarger, and David Elliott. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Powell, Jim Bennett, Steve Leonard, Glen Stypes, James Bradley and Landon McInturff. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Saturday prior to the service.
