Jack Walter Davenport

Jack Walter Davenport, 70, Jonesborough, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Mr. Davenport was a native of Jonesborough, a former resident of Chicago, IL and had moved back to Jonesborough earlier this year. He was a son of the late Walter D. Davenport and Mae McIntosh Davenport and was also preceded in death by one son, Scott Michael Davenport and one sister, Carolyn Virginia Osborne. Mr. Davenport was retired from Inland Steel Corporation. He was a US Army veteran. Mr. Davenport was a member of Cherokee Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jack Davenport, Jr., AL and Donald Davenport, Loxley, AL; two daughters, Lisa Morck, Childerburg, AL and Dawn Hale, Hurst, IL; two brothers, Robert Davenport and Cecil Davenport both of Jonesborough; five sisters, Mary Davenport, Morristown, Shirley Osborne, Morristown, Vickie Arms, Newport, Faye Jones, SC and Betty Bannam, Newport and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service from Mr. Davenport will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 2, 2005 at Cherokee Mountain Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Steve Wilson and Reverend Kenneth Whaley will officiate. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
