James A. Southerland

Mr. James A. Southerland, 88, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Signature Healthcare of Greeneville. Mr. Southerland was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. He was the son of the late Sidney and Carrie Southerland. He was a member of Clifton View Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Southerland was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Southerland. Survivors include his son, Allen Southerland and Sabra Houston; one sister, Shirley Britt; one brother, Charles Southerland; three grandsons, Jeremy Southerland, Robbie Southerland and his wife Amber, Eric Southerland and his wife Misty; several great grandchildren. The family of Mr. James A. Southerland will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, August 4, 2016, in the Morris-Baker Oak Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Reverend Claude Babb officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park.
