James B. Curl, Jr., 58 of 1202 East Chilhowie Avenue, Johnson City, TN died Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport following a brief illness. Jim was a native of Johnson City, and the son of the late, James B. and Hazel Hopper Curl. He was a graduate of Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University with a degree in History. He worked as a Safety Engineer for industries and construction companies in Indiana, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. He was a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army as First Lieutenant, European Headquarters Transportation Corp. Survivors include one sister, Anna J. Smith; three brothers, Don, Phil, and David Walters all of Johnson City; four nieces; and six nephews. A graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park on Friday, November 11, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Mike Tyson, the pastor of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church will officiate. The Bristol VFW Honor Guard will provide military honors. The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
