Mr. James 'J.T.'? Thomas Badgett, 50, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012. A native of Findlay, Ohio, he is the son of Bill Badgett and wife Linda and Kay Darnell Cureton. Hammer graduated in 1980 from Cory Rawson High School and was also voted Most Valuable Defensive Lineman his senior year. He enlisted in the Navy in 1981 and moved to Johnson City and started his career as a carpenter where he got the nickname 'Hammer.'? He enjoyed riding his Harley, NASCAR, and hanging with his friends and family. He is preceded in death by two-step fathers, Jim Dray and Dave Curton. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Penny Morton Badgett; son Jacob Beck; two step-sons, Andy Soltanovitch and wife Haley and Cody Street; two grandchildren, Jade and Ruby Soltanovitch; brothers, Joe Badgett and wife Wendy and Steven Cureton; sisters, Janice Bormuth, Jackie Schnapp and husband Jim, Cindy Wheeler, and Beth Cureton; sister-in-law Debbie Morton; brother-in-law James Morton and wife Diane; mother-in-law Jill Morton; step-brothers Jim Dray and wife Diana, Dick Dray and wife Kendi, and Steven Wagamuth; step-sisters Deb Howard, Sherri Wagamuth, Kim Snyder, Deb Berchnall and husband Kelly; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, 1-3pm, Saturday, at Morris Baker Funeral Home. Services will be held, 3pm, Saturday, at Morris Baker Funeral Home with Military Honors.
