Emblem

James Vernon “Jimbo” Broce, 69, of Bristol, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday November 26, 2024, from Abundant Christian Living Community in Johnson City.

James was born into the loving home of Jimmy R. Broce and Katie Louise Wheeler Broce in Bristol, Tennessee in 1955.

He was a proud Sullivan East Patriot Alumni. After graduation, he attended Northeast State Technical Community College and Virginia Highlands Community College.

He was a faithful member of the Paperville United Methodist Church in Bristol for over 50 years.

Jimbo worked with his hands and his mind. He was a skillful craftsman in every aspect of his job and hobbies. He was a Master Tool & Dye Machinist, Quality Control Machinist, Screen-print Supervisor, and Motorcycle Mechanic. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed life on two wheels. Fearless in his pursuits, there was almost nothing that he couldn’t do.

Alongside his creative and mechanical mind, Jimbo was an avid fisherman and hunter, who enjoyed his share of trout fishing and the great outdoors. He took great pleasure in gardening and loved his tractor. He loved children, telling a tale, and making people laugh. Most of all, he loved the Lord and his family and friends. He was always there whenever someone needed him.

Those preceding him in death include: his precious mother, Katie Broce; his beloved fiancé, Doris Love; and his dear grandparents.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include: his father, Jimmy R. Broce; two sisters, Donna (Rodney) Beverly and Pamela (Doug Henry) Harris; one son, James Ray Broce; one nephew, Jamie (April) Meade; two nieces, Michele Meade and Maranda (Jeff) Dean; several nieces and nephews; one great-niece; and numerous cousins and friends. All of whom he loved very much.

A special mention to his fiancé Doris Love’s children, with whom Jimbo always maintained a close relationship, as well as a special mention to a very special friend Iris Arnold.

A visitation for family and friends is scheduled from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the Oak Hall at Morris-Baker Funeral Home.
