Mr. James Burton, age 93, of Johnson City, passed away, June 5, 2012, in the Lakebridge Health Care Center. Mr. Burton was a native of Granite City, Illinois. He was the son of the late William George Burton and Catherine Cecelia Dempsey Burton. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Margie Burton; one daughter, Kathy; three brothers; and two sisters. During World War II, he served with the 4th Regiment, Army Ground Forces, and participated in the Aleutian Islands Campaign. He retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant. Survivors include daughter Sharon, her husband Dennis, and two granddaughters, Christy and Deborah; son, Kevin and his wife Jane; former son-in-law, Roger and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Veterans Administration Medical Center (Mountain Home) for so many years of wonderful care and dedicated support provided to Jim and his family. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Monday, June 18, 2012, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Deacon Richard Carner will officiate. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 will accord military honors. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM Monday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Attention: Donation Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, New Hampshire, 03086-0921.
