James David Surcey

James David Surcey, 67, 235 North Road, Johnson City, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Surcey was a native of Washington County who had lived all his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late David C. and Virginia Cardwell Surcey. In addition to his parents one sister, Francis Feathers and one son, Roger Surcey, also preceded him in death. He was retired from Baxter Pharmaseal. Mr. Surcey was a member of the Hawthorne Church of the Brethren. Survivors include: his wife of fifty years, Charlotte Bowman Surcey; three daughters, Pam Carver and Bobby Taylor, Linda Surcey and Wanda Nolen, Diane Carroll and her husband Chuck; two sons, David Surcey and his wife Kim and Carroll Surcey and his wife Nina Sue; special sister-in-law, Jewel Harris (thumbs up); five brothers-in-law; six grandchildren, Todd Bennett, Tosha Bennett, Ashley Self, Dustin Surcey, Courtney Surcey and Colton Surcey; four great grandchildren, Dylan Williams, Gage Bennett, Lucus Self and Landon Self; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to send a special thank you to: Dr. Johnson and staff, Dr. Harris and staff, Dr. Colyer and staff, Mooneys Pharmacy and employees and the nurses of Hospice, Anna, Julie, Brenda, Sherry and staff. The funeral service for James David Surcey will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, May 24, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Hollace Ford and Robert Bowman will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 PM Sunday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral chapel at 12:15 PM Sunday to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be: Charlie Harris, Mike Whaley, Troop Harris, Chuck Harris, Bucky Harris and Jeff Hartley. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dustin Surcey, Eddie Harris, Todd Bennett, Billy Bowman and Mickey Bowman. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Hawthorne Church of the Brethren, 104 Hawthorne Church Road, Johnson City Tn. 37601.
