James Duncan Stultz, age 74, 1518 Robin Hood Lane, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Stultz was the son of the late Hugh Edward and Clara Irene Duncan Stultz. Mr. Stultz was a native of Roanoke, Virginia and lived there for the first three years of his life. He lived for five years in St. Louis, Missouri; seventeen years in Decatur, Georgia; nine years in Knoxville, Tennessee; and lived the past forty years in Johnson City. He was a graduate of Decatur Boys High School and received a degree in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Mr. Stultz served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers with a rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, where he had served as Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Administrative Board, and on many church committees. He was a member and past President of the Johnson City Kiwanis Club and the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce. He was a member and former Tri-Cities President of the Associated General Contractors and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Knoxville. Mr. Stultz actively worked to bring the Quillen College of Medicine to Johnson City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Edward Stultz. He is survived by: his wife, Doris Baxter Stultz, of the home; two daughters, Donna Stultz, of Houston, Texas, Diane Hall, and her husband Frederick, of Lexington, South Carolina; James Stultz, Jr., of Gray, Tennessee, and Edward Stultz, and his wife Lacy, of Johnson City; nine grandchildren, Fabian Castro, Stephen Hall, Marcus Hall, Charlotte Hall, Preston Hall, Jacob Stultz, Spencer Stultz, Alaina Stultz, and Madelyn Stultz; and two nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 17th at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Brian Taylor and Rev. Jerry Everly will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The Stultz family would like to extend special thanks to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center doctors and their fine staff for the excellent care Mr. Stultz received prior to his death.
