James Lewis Head

James “Jim” Lewis Head, age 87, of Gray, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2024, at The Waters of Bristol. 

Jim was born on July 13, 1937, to the late Charles David Head, Sr. and Bessie Ann Tucker Head in Washington County, Tennessee. After graduating from high school, Jim joined the Army. He met the love of his life, Audrey Schmidt, at a dance on the Army base in Washington State. They were married November 10, 1962, and moved to Gray, Tennessee. Jim worked at Eastman Chemical Company for over 30 years. After retirement, he worked part-time at Food City in Gray. In his free time, Jim loved to golf and travel with Audrey. 

Jim was a devoted member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed missionary work and even traveled to Honduras. 

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey in 2023; brother, Charles David Head, Jr.; and half siblings, Freddie, Marvin, and Wanda.

Those left to cherish his memory include his niece and caregiver, Tammy Hickam; nephews, James, Richard, and Rusty Head; cousins and caregivers, Jane and Dean Tucker; and sister, Verna and Bobby Fulwiler.

Jim’s family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home with a funeral following at 1:00 pm, under the direction of Dr. Danny Depew. A graveside service will commence at 2:30 pm at Washington County Memory Gardens, under the direction of Pastor Robert Fultz. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
