James Howard Reed, 68, 516 Care Lane, Johnson City, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Reed was a native of Clinton, IL and had lived in Johnson City for the past twenty years. He was a son of the late Joseph Harrison Reed and Martha Mott Reed and was preceded in death by a special sister-in-law, Laveitta Reed. Mr. Reed was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of New Hope Church of Christ. Mr. Reed was a former member of the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club. Survivors include his wife, Loretta 'Lori' Reed; four sons, Joe Reed, Chicago, Il, Mike Reed, Watauga, John Reed, of the home and Kevin Reed, Clinton, IL; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Reed; three sisters, Linda May Dan Valey and her husband, Jim, Clinton, IL, Elizabeth Cox and her husband, Jim, Lincoln, IL, Lois DeJaynes, Clinton, IL; five brothers, Chuck Redd and his wife, Bertie, Chula Vista, CA, Ed Reed and his wife, Georgette, Matton, IL, Ted Reed, Clinton, IL, Bob Reed and his wife, Linda Carole, Clinton, IL, Donnie Reed and his wife, Jeannie, NC; his former wife, Pat Reed, Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mr. Reed will be conducted at 8 pm Sunday, March 4, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Paul Peer will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 am Monday at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Bishop, Robert Dempsey, Dwayne Shaffer, Mike Reed, Steve Freelong and Dusty Glover. Honorary pallbearers will be James 'Chief' Moody, Kenneth Ray, Dr. Tom Schnell, Dr. Chris Shoales and John Reed. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 am and travel in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
