James Oliver "Jimmy" Joyce II, age 70 of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully following a stroke. Born in Memphis, Tennessee he was the cherished son of James and Betty Joyce. He was a 1972 graduate of Science Hill High School. Jimmy spent his work career in manufacturing, including TPI, Columbus Electric, and Borla Industries. He was a childhood member of Princeton Presbyterian Church. His special interests were Motor Sports and Tennessee Vols Sports. Jimmy was happiest on the weekends when he was at Kingsport Motor Speedway or other local racing venues.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cinderella Owens Joyce and his parents, James and Betty Joyce.
Those remaining are his children, Chad Joyce and wife Carrie of King City, Oregon, Jennifer Bledsoe and husband Michael of Vonore, Tennessee, Melinda Hill and husband Donald of Johnson City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jasmine, Ella and Danica Joyce; Stephanie Hill. Step-Children, Jason Owens and Jenny Presley. Sister, Brenda Merritt and husband Randy. Jimmy's special best friends who added great value to his life, Colonel Eddie Henson, USAF Retired of Hickory, North Carolina and Ryan "Griff" Griffin of Johnson City, Tennessee.
The family would like to extend a "Thank You" to the medical providers at Johnson City Medical Center for their exceptional care of Jimmy, and the physicians of SOFA. Also, the prayer warriors and ministers of First Christian Church.
In Jim's memory please call a friend and talk with them a long while, preferably about The Vols or racing.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until the memorial service at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Phil Torbett, minister will be officiating.
