James Leatherwood

September 10, 1938 — July 8, 2024

James "Jim" Marion Leatherwood, 85, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on July 8, 2024, due to natural causes. Born on September 10, 1938, in Douglas County, GA, Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1977. He went on to work as a plumber by trade for many years.


He will be remembered by: his daughter, Penny Clark; sons, James Jr. and John (Ann); grandchildren, Gary, Holly, Michael, James III, and Michelle; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Essie Leatherwood; his beloved wife of 62 years, Pat Leatherwood; brother, Bobby Leatherwood; and sister, Joanne Allen.


A man of faith, Jim was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.


Funeral services for Jim will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday, July 12, 2024. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with a Mass officiated by Father Jesus following at 11:00 am. A committal service at Mountain Home National Cemetery will be scheduled for a later date, where military honors will be accorded as Jim is laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Pat.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
