James Louis Clark

April 21, 1932 — February 21, 2015

Rev. James Louis Clark, 82, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on the morning of February 21, 2015 after a brief illness. James was the son of the late Gilbert and Lula Clark. He worked as a finishing room superintendent for 31 years at Gordons Furniture. He was a member of Milligan Free Will Baptist Church and Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486. Over his lifetime he pastored several churches in the Tri-Cities area. He dearly loved witnessing the gospel and proclaiming the word of Jesus. In addition to his parents, three sisters, Illo Feathers, Isa Griffin, and Melodae Morrell preceded James in death. Survivors include: his loving wife of 64 years, Darlene Draine Clark; daughters, Karen Clark and Sherry Carr; granddaughters whom he loved dearly, Jordan and husband Derick Lee and Madison Carr and fiancé Chase Arnold; brothers, Jerry Clark, John Clark and wife Doris; sister Elsie and husband Carl Denton; several nieces and nephews and Special friends at Chick-fil-A. Honorary Pallbearers include: Charles Denton, D.H. Byrd, Larry Cash, Wayne Campbell, and Richard Roberson. Music will be under the direction of Joel Street and Rita Church. The family of Rev. James Louis Clark would like to thank the staff of Johnson City Medical Center 2200 and NHC HealthCare for the care they provided during his hospitalization. The family of Rev. James Louis Clark will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Mark Street and Rev. Jerry Stout officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mike Draine, Robin Draine, Greg Draine, Jeff Draine, Keevin Wilson, Larry Taylor, Mike Clark, and Tim Taylor. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:00 PM Wednesday to go into procession to New Bethel Cemetery for 1:00 PM committal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milligan Free Will Baptist Church
