Obituary for James Paul Martin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Paul Martin , who left us peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Washington County, Tennessee, James was a steadfast presence in the lives of those who knew him.

Growing up in the rolling hills of East Tennessee, James had a tough upbringing but always found joy in the little things-whether it was tinkering with engines or sharing stories with his friends and family. He never had the opportunity for formal education beyond the 8th grade, but his wisdom and work ethic spoke volumes.

James was preceded in death by parents John & Nellie Martin, Sister Janie Gail Martin Tipton

James is survived by (significant other) Carolyn Taylor of 26 years, Brother Hank (Wanda) Martin, and one Niece Kristen Martin, and two Nephews Michael Martin, Treyton Martin, and Josh Tipton, Great Nephews and Nieces Jayden, Colby, and Aryahana Martin, Cousins Colleen Roe, and Larry LeSeur

Those who knew James will remember him for his big heart, his laughter, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. He was a brother, a friend, and a cherished member of the community in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he spent many happy years.

The family will have a celebration of life gathering at a later time.
