James Pete Foister

Mr. James 'Pete'? Foister, age 85, of Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Foister was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late James Pete Foister, Sr. and Bessie Greene Foister. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Foister; four sisters, Myrtle Ball, Mae Huff, Helen Huff and Joyce Fields. Mr. Foister was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church. He retired from Klopman Mills after forty-seven years of service. He loved farming, coon hunting and was an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include: his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Ethel Foister of the home; one son, Harold D. Foister and his wife Linda of Jonesborough; two daughters, Teresa Garland and her husband Roger of Mountain City and Jan Barnett and her husband Lynn of Johnson City; one sister, Maggie Markland of Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Robin Sturgill and her husband Patrick of Johnson City, Jeremy Garland and his wife Kelley of Dallas, Texas, Ben Garland of Jonesborough and Rebecca Chaffin and her husband Brian of Jonesborough; three great grandchildren, Kaley Sturgill, Madison Sturgill and Emily Chaffin. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. James 'Pete'? Foister will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, August 19, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Kyker and Pastor Pete Tackett officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted by Rev. Steve Trinkle at 11 AM Saturday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ben Garland, Patrick Sturgill, Brian Chaffin, Bob Dugger, Bob Huff, Ronnie Fine, Rob Cole and Andy Rowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Ball, Jerry Baker, Mike Voitlein, Lloyd Webb, Lonnie Webb, Keith Hill, Bob Harrell and Bill Harrell. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service.
