James R. Weems

James R. 'Jr.' Weems, Sr. 77, 508 Lamont Street, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Northside Hospital. Mr. Weems was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was a son of Ada Copas Weems and the late Carl E. Weems. Mr. Weems was also preceded in death by a son Larry 'Bucky ' Alan and a brother Carl E. Weems,Jr. He was retired from Giant Wholesale. Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Weems, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Weems, of the home and Lena Cook and her husband Jeff, Johnson City; four sons, James R. Weems, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, Johnson City, Ronnie Weems, of the home, Gary Weems, Johnson City and Darryl Weems, Johnson City; one sister, Doris 'Dot' Marshall, Johnson City; eight grandchildren several nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Taylor Anderson and a special dog, Buddy. A funeral service for Mr. Weems will be conducted at 8 PM Sunday from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Dr. Eddie Fine will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family expresses a very special thanks to the nurses at Northside Hospital on Unit 1, Dr. Phil Jones and the Respitory Groupe.
