James S. Carder, 81 of Johnson City went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by his wife and family.
Mr. Carder was a native of Washington County, TN a son of the late Allen and Edith Walker Carder. In addition to his parents, a sister, Edna Carder Watson and husband, Jim Watson of Florida; a brother, Dennis Carder of Jonesborough, and a sister-in-law, Linda Carder (the wife of Kenneth Carder) preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Belva Davis Carder; son, Douglas James Carder and wife Amanda Carder of South Carolina; grandsons, Josh A. Carder, Aaron Carder and wife Sabrina Carder of Johnson City, Iain Carder of South Carolina; granddaughters, Lindsie Carder Graham and husband, Ryan Graham, and Torrie Carder of South Carolina; great granddaughters, Carolina Carder and Mia Carder; one great grandson, Weston Graham; two brothers, Kenneth L. Carder of North Carolina and Joseph R. Carder and wife, Kathy Carder of Johnson City, TN; one sister-in-law, Wanda Carder; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
“Jim Carder” was a quiet, kindhearted man who was willing to help those who needed his help. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Johnson City, where he was a former deacon, Mr. Carder served in the Baptist deaconship for many years. He was retired from the Johnson City Power Board, where he worked for 46 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at Morris-Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 2:30 PM in the Oak Chapel under the direction of Pastor Pete Tackett. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time of service at 2:30 PM. An entombment will follow immediately at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
